My puppy (almost 9 months) is supposedly half yorkie and half shih tzu so I know her genetics are different than a purebred yorkshire terrier. I'm curious about her coat. It's different than a yorkie, shih tzu, or even members of the cross that I've seen online.

She has a very wiry coat. It reminds me of a wirehaired dachshund or pointer. Both of her breeds are supposed to have long flowing hair. Her's is short and coarse.

As for her color... yes she's black and tan, but not really. The tips of some of her hairs are black while the base is white. Some are all black and some are all white. She has the appearance of a bluetick coonhound or Aus. Cattle Dog. I know that yorkies are suppose to gray over time but I don't know if the multi colored hair was common. I posted photos in the photo section, just waiting for them to be approved.

Any info would greatly help me. I'm very curious! Thanks.
