Default Yorkie sizes!!!!

I know this is a Yorkie forum - and most of us have Yorkies - and most of us may not be experts, but we do know a lot about Yorkies.

Because I have my first Yorkie, I am fast learning a lot about Yorkies that I never knew. Especially about all the different sizes, shapes, haircuts, colors, etc.

I know that most of my friends know what a Yorkie is - but have never owned or been around a lot of them. So - when someone is offended by remarks about their Yorkies size, etc, --- why not just educate the person you are talking to. Instead of being offended, why can't we just say something like, "You're right - my little guy is larger than a lot of Yorkies - but, surprisingly they can range in size from XXX to XXX. And, --you probably have seen only smaller ones.

Most people aren't stupid - and there's not always anything wrong with being ignorant. (For instance, I don't know a lot about raising Llamas - and, I'm sure everyone will forgive me this.)

I'll bet all of us have a lot of misconceptions about other breeds that we are not familiar with. And, we may well say something from time to time that shows our ignorance. But, I'd rather someone correct me and educate me than be offended at any remark I might make.

The point I want to make is --- Those of us who have larger than standard Yorkies (or different-colored Yorkies, etc.) should not take offense at other people's remarks. Just explain that though most Yorkies are small --there are certainly a lot many purebreds that are larger also.

I think my little Yorkie will end up being "not too small." So, I'm prepared to educate a lot of people -- I won't be offended or think these people are stupid.
