Awww, I know how you feel
My family is far away and we're all not rich enough to travel very often, so we see one another about once a year or less
It's really hard on the holidays, even though we're not super close, really. DH's family are all over the place, but they do visit here and there.
Like you said, it's time to make your own traditions!
