It is not just that dogs (and cats) do not normally eat, nor can they properly digest, corn, wheat, soy, etc., as part of their mostly carnivorous diet, all of the above are largely GMO products, heavily sprayed with Roundup and/or other pesticides...all of which are bound to cause health issues whether it is immediate rashes, itching, digestive difficulties, and the like, or health issues after the problems have built up over time in less imediately sensitive animals...humans, too...for that matter.
Science and chemistry do not necessarily enrich and improve our lives.
