Your story reminded me of one that Heidi did that made me laugh. I had been training with her for a several months on basic commands & some trick training. I'd always say "Good Girl!" when she did good. Our first day of Obedience School, before class started we were watching a little dog practice on high jump thingy. Heidi immediately zeroed in on it and was totally ingrossed. The dog's owner said "Good Girl! Heidi started jumping around going crazy, so proud of herself -- she thought the "Good Girl!" was for her!
Also, sometimes I'll ask her to do a particular trick and I'll think she's doing the wrong one. Then I realize she is doing the one I told her to do, not the one I had in my head and said the wrong words! She's right - I was wrong. LoL
