My dads JRT mix is very very moody like this. Never been able to fix it but we also haven't worked very hard on it either. If she's not in the mood, she will growl and show her teeth. She's never bit but she looks so nasty. Basically, she can just be a nasty little thing and we tell her to "GIVE KISSES!" and she starts licking you.
For a while, whenever she would growl, we would put her on the floor. She seemed to learn growling = getting moved out of my sleeping position. But she's back to her old ways. We don't purposely bug her while she's sleeping, but a person should be able to sit next to their dog, or accidentally touch him without getting teeth or growling. It sucks. |
