I couldn't tell from your original post, but do you already have a Yorkie that you would like to start showing, or are you looking to find a show breeder to purchase from? While it may be easier to buy a puppy from a show bloodline, there is nothing more rewarding than showing your own.
So often I read where people almost make it sound like you can't do it unless you have a mentor by your side. It is wise to seek the help of an experienced show person for advice and instruction on things such as grooming techniques and doing a good top knot, but I don't want you to feel the Yorkie that you may have now, and were hoping to show isn't good enough.
Oklahoma City is the home of Onofrio Dog Shows, and there are several good shows in the OKC area. Claremore in the Tulsa area, and Grove OK have shows in April. In May I would highly recommend the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America specialty held in OKC the 16th and 17th, followed by the Toy club shows the rest of the weekend. Last year there were 44 Yorkies entered in the Toy show! There is another show in OKC the last of June, so you should have a chance to watch and meet people. Once thing that I have found is that most of those people you see at the show would love the chance to share their knowledge with you, if you just let them know you want to learn.
As for your personality, don't worry aboput it, just go out and have fun.
Good luck and I really hope you do decide to show.
