We went to a Victorian Christmas celebration in Nevada City, California, while on vacation. Many, many photo opportunities, but this is all I got! Low light is a real challenge, especially when not using flash. I set my camera on manual, set the ISO to 3200, my aperature to its widest setting (4.5, I think) and then used the meter to line up the shutter speed as fast as possible. Often, I was shooting at 1/30 or or less so holding the camera steady was a priority.

The first shot is a live Nativity scene, where the people just stood in the same position for minutes at a time.
