Our little man Patrick is definitely our defender. Besides killing baby birds in our backyard, one time there was a possum in the corner of our fence. Patrick charged at that thing with no fear. It decided to play dead and emit that lovely dead animal odor which Patrick naturally picked up. After it played dead Patrick just looked at it like "yeah...I dare you to move." We ended up caging it in Patrick's old crate and calling animal control to pick it up. Of course Patrick needed an extra long bath to smell decent again. But they really are manly. If anything invades their territory, it's game on.
There was also one time some kids in the neighborhood decided to come to our door to ask us something. We have a thick glass door in the front and Patrick saw them and charged at the door and slammed his front paws against it barking like crazy. The kids ran away. I praised him for keeping us from being bothered
