The first thing to do is to go to shows in your area. Ok has a number of shows and there are also shows in the upper Texas area as well. Without distracting people from grooming, try to observe exhibitors getting ready for the ring. Watch the rings. Make notes in the catalogue on the placements and get an idea of the type of dog that you really like. Become familiar with the standard, everyone has their own interpretation of the standard, but the basics are still there, as you gain experience, your "vision" of the standard will evolve. Coat care and show grooming are not easy and you need a mentor to teach you. Once you have an idea of where you want to be headed with yorkies you will need to establish a relationship with a breeder that shares your vision. Over time you can build that relationship and learn from them so that you do not wind up finding out that showing is not for you. Joining a breed club is an excellent idea. You can find out about clubs in your area from the YTCA and also check the breeder referral on their site to learn about show breeders in your area. If I can help you I am happy to do so.
