From what I have read lately, they are saying that 8 glasses of water a day should include all of the water content from the food you eat all day too. Much of our food is water -- so we don't need to drink near the 8 glasses of pure water a day that was and often still is recommended. If you are not showing signs of being dehydrated, then you are getting enough water. Here is a good article to read:

And relying on the eight-glass rule may not be enough to avoid dehydration in certain circumstances." So it all depends on what your particular body needs. We all have different requirements because we have different activity levels.
