My Dexter had a pretty bad allergic reaction to his shots. About 2 hours after he got them, I noticed him rubbing his little body on the stairs on the carpet trying to itch himself, when I looked at him his eyes were swollen shut and he had hives everywhere. Also if I touched the shot site, he screamed in pain. He was wagging his tail and breathing fine though. I called the ER vet who told me to try benedryl 2mls (he was only 3.5 lbs) but I can't remember if its the one for children or infants. I think it's important, which one you get. I stayed up with him all night as he itched and scratched and his hives finally went away and his swollen eyes reopened.
Now when he goes for shots, he gets a pain shot first (bc hes a baby the vet said haha) and he gets a shot of benedryl, then the vaccines. This has worked so far. He is 6 years old and has had 2 rounds of 3 year shots with no more reactions.
Good Luck with your baby!
