I know what you mean about how hard it is to judge size.
My ZoE varies between 6.8-7.2 lbs depending on the day/time of the week of her vet visit, yet she is a BIG yorkie. My last yorkie was 5lbs...5 1/2 when she got a lil chubby, but she looked sooo much smaller than ZoE. ZoE is longer and taller and just bigger overall...chest, paws, everything. I'm not sure you can just go by weight when comparing dogs.
