So as I was cleaning up, I did get on to her. I told her that we do not tee tee on the carpet and she should be ashamed of herself. Well she started to do what we are calling 'backbarking.' It's not a loud bark. It's very quiet. Almost a muffled, low bark. Not a growl but just a quick ruff. It's like she is sass talking back at her Momma!! Can you believe that?! Little booger! She is now in time out for backbarking! Am I doing the wrong thing? I have to let her know that I am the boss (alpha so to speak) and that what I say goes. She knows what the word 'timeout' means I think. Because if she is ever in the house and does more than the 3 warning barks we allow, I look and say 'you want timeout?' and she immediately stops barking.

It's so hard to get on to her with her being so cute. LOL. Of course, I do not hit her or anything like that. I don't even yell. I just say what I need to say in a firm voice. It's all I can do not too laugh, but I am trying.

Do your babies press their luck?

Yep! My little girl backtalk us too

especially to her daddy. I do what you do, I let her have her say, after all this is not a dictatorship (it is only for her daddy), but then I tell her that's not very nice and how I wouldn't dream of backtalking to MY mommy and how lucky she (my little girl) is to have a mommy who understands the pressures of teenagehood a la Yorkie
