I think that is an excellent idea! No better way to check things out than with your vet!
Please update us when you can.
My Yorkies were very playful when they were puppies....then they'd tire themselves out and nap. Trust your instinct on this. Also, make sure you ask about low blood sugar and get some nutrical from your vet.
