The enzymes combine with their substrates to produce hypothiocyanite ions, which fight plaque-forming bacteria and their harmful by-products.
Although the size and shape of C.E.T. Chews make them safer than other forms of beefhide (rawhide), some dogs may not chew the strips adequately before attempting to swallow them.
