Once you've researched the breeder, you must visit the home and see the parents and living conditions. Never put a deposit on a pup sight unseen. And the breeder should be asking you just as many (or more) questions than you are asking him/her...a reputable breeder will not place pups with just anyone. One more thing - the breeder should not be letting the pups go earlier than 10 weeks, or ideally at 12-14 weeks.
