God that sounds unpleasant to say the least. Okay part of my problem, is that the thickness of their nails means a fair amount of pressure needs to be brought to bear through the handles; ie the squeeze. I have some RA in my two wrists, which makes it difficult to bear enough pressure. I try doing nails after bath, but even then they are pretty firm.

I'm tired of running after hubby to get him to trim the Blackies nails. Zoey is fine, but Magic is a "bear" about nail trimming. He growls all the time, and hubby gets so mad and impatient with him. Needless to say he doesn't growl at me when I do. I've talked till I'm blue in the face with hubby, but he and Magic, had some bad run-ins when he was a puppy. Magic has never forgotten, forgiven maybe but not forgotten. Hubby changed his own discipline ways (that was another huge argument), but things got a whole lot better when he trained "my and my trainer's way).
So I'm looking for a solution - if I only had to exert maybe 20-25% less pressure, I'd probably be able to do nails on my own.

Any ideas? Is there a solution you could soak paws in that would soften the nails?
