Why would you recommend this as a basic homeowners drill??? This is a hammer drill! This iis not the same as a basic drill/driver. A hammer drill is what you use for going through EXTREMELY hard surfaces (ie: concrete) not for drilling through wood home projects for hanging things on drywalled home walls.

I used a hammer drill when I had framed my basement wood interior walls and wanted to anchor them to the concrete floor using Tapcon bolts. I used a regular drill/driver to anchor those same walls to the ceiling joists (which were in fact the floor joists of the first floor of my home).

A hammer drill is a for tool specific work, not everyday drilling & driving.

Aymee....the original DeWalt set you posted of a drill/driver & impact combo is a good one!
