We recently ( over 2 months already!) bought Abby home for the same reasons- Ziva was getting lazy. I did give them baths right away, dried them with the same towels- That seemed to help a lot, I also switched Abbys food sooner than I thought I would-she actually did better on it anyway, now at least she smelled familiar!
I found that Ziva wanted to take care of her more than I thought she would so I had to back off a little from keeping them so separate. I put the crates together at night and Ziva actually "cooed" to her! The first week was a little tense and standoffish but every week was better, by 30 days things were fine. Try to relax- it helped a lot!
Now they play "bite face", tug and squirrel patrol all day long! They do not lay/nap together or eat together (Abby is a pig)
