Nothing can really be recommended because if the pumpkin isn't working, then there is something stopping him. Pups can have constipation for so many reasons including blockage (sometimes with very scary things). Your pup needs an xray. He cannot continue to back-up like this. Honestly, I would hope it's just a case of simple constipation, but it really does sound like there an an underlying disease process present. Xrays are needed with probable bloodwork. Is he neutered?
