Is this a vet you have a long term relationship with? Would they be willing to work with you on a payment plan or even take a post dated check? It's worth asking about. Have you called your vet to ask if there is anything you can do/give before you bring him in?
5 days is a long time to go without pooping. At this point, I would be more concerned about some type of blockage than your garden variety constipation, especially with your
description of his "hiney" pushing out.
