Taren, I am still unclear on the registration you are talking about and I wonder if maybe you are too? Can you tell us if you are talking about Canadian Kennel Club = ckc.ca

The ckc.ca is a VALID real registry. The Canadian version of the AKC. These are worth paying the $300 for and it is standard practice in the dog world.

The ckcusa is a VANITY registry. A way to have "papers" on your dog with no validation of their ancestry or if they are even one specific breed. These are NOT worth paying for.

If you are unsure, we should be able to help you if you let us know who the breeder is.
