I heard of the same thing happening in Connecticut and Maine as well as a few other US places.

I don't really bother going to the dog parks. My yard is big enough...
If it is in a fenced in off leash area yeah you cant stop them from eating something running free but if its in an area where you are leash walking them to a certain extent you can control it or at least I can control mine.
