I would welcome Brian back, but that would just make him more of a loser, being two places from his last win.

Yes, my victory accomplishes the same thing, but my not welcoming him back makes me feel like less of a scoundrel. It's not as though I'm making a double loser out of someone I just welcomed back.

This makes perfect sense to me, but perhaps it's something only the true winner can understand.
