Question please I have enjoyed this forum because there are so many knowledgeable people on it.
This may be a stupid question but I have heard that if the roof of your dogs mouth is black he is a pure bred. I find this hard to believe but figured if anyone knew it would be you.
The Yorkie I got from the shelter the roof of his mouth is black. Does this mean he is a Yorkie and not a mix as we originally thought?
I have been combing him everyday and it appears to my untrained eye and feel that the roots of the black hair on his heard are tan and softer. The roots of the hair on the body is a grey/blue and they also appear to be softer than the wiry puppy hair. I read that this could mean his hair on his head will be tan and on his back blue and he MIGHT be able to grow a long coat.
I have always wanted a long hair Yorkie but did not go looking for one...he found us in the shelter. He is so cute just as he is and as every day more of his personality comes out and it appears he is going to be as sweet as he is cute. My husband and I are thrilled. But after reading on the internet it has me wondering: Could he possible be a pure bred just one that doesn't make the cut for showing or breeding? Any opinions will be welcomed.
