I know how good it must feel to be home. The ride home probably made it worse for him. It's too bad you don't have some kind of inflatable to enclose his leg while you are riding. That would help. I suppose keeping it elevated over his heart would help a bit with the swelling. I am so glad you got to go home for awhile with the babies. There really is no place like home!
