I actually went through the same thing with Brandi. I started of letting her sleep in bed with me. She wasn't pee pad trained either and would get up in the middle of the night to go potty on my carpet. And like you I started crating her at night with the exact same results that you are having.

I started pee pad training her and she learn to use at 9 yrs old (she's now 11). I got her when she was 7...a rescued from a byb. You can imagine how hard it was to potty train her after so many years of going in her crate so it's never too late to teach them new tricks. It was the best thing I ever did for her. She hates going outside in the rain and snow and I no longer wake up to a soil carpet.

As a result, Brandi now has pretty much the run of the house. I love how she gets up and the middle of the night to go pee on her potty pad and gets back in bed. She also still goes outdoors weather permitting. It's sort of the best of both worlds. I work doing the day so having her use the potty bads is perfect. I will say it wasn't easy it took persistence and patience but we both sleep much better now.
