Aymee I hope someone with more knowledge comes on soon, but....When we first adopted Jada, I was terrified of her blood sugar dropping and she wasn't eating that well. I started giving her just a little bit of nutri-cal daily on her food, just to get her to eat.
It is loaded with calories and it packed about 2lbs on her small frame very quickly. For that reason alone I wouldn't give it daily. It also has taken me about a year and a half to get most of that 2lbs off of her. She has LP in both back knees and added weight is not good for her joints.
As for treats...my two will take your hand off for a frozen green bean.
