His reasoning behind this is b/c Gizmo has always had a lil anxiety issue and he feels that bringing another male into the house could increase the anxiety. He also didnt think it was a good idea to get something smaller than Giz (who is 12 lbs lol) I am going tomorrow to see a 3 1/2 month old female scottish terrier.
it appears several of you have more than one yorkie - any opinions on this opposite sex/breed thing? - my husband wants to go w/ the original male yorkie plan but again after talking to the vet - im a lil unsure.
Thanks,!

I have a male and female yorkie and they are great friends. Ivy, is however a bit more assertive and Mason doesn't know how to get rid of her if he's tired of playing. He's much more calmer than she is. However, knowing what I know about my two, the next one definitely has to be a male. The males I've owned seemed to be much more calmer and much easier to potty train. But, that's just me. I think 2 male yorkies would be fine together. Just my opinion.
