Barbara, I had a yorkie with my family back in the 80's. He was 7 yrs old when he had a collapsing treachea. He was full size and had the snorting and honking cough, so severe that he couldn't breathe when it got really bad. Back then there was no stent surgery, so we had to put him to sleep and it killed us. DON'T WORRY thank god NOW they can do surgery and my vet said the stents work wonderfully and they have a long great life after the procedure. HANG in there. Keep him calm but look into that surgery. If it happens to my little Nicky (who is a miniature and having problems already) I will go that route. |
