Yep it is from a well dug deep into the ground and a pump brings it into the house through pipes. Actually our well water is good, but there use to be only a couple of houses near our farm. Now there are several and you just never know what people dump onto the ground and it can seep into the water table. That is why we don't drink it any longer.
Our farm has been in DH family for over 200 years and there is a hand dug well up at the barns that is about 50ft deep and is lined all the way up with river rock. IDK how in the world they dug that thing and lined it all those years ago, before there was machinery. It is fed from a natural spring underground and the water is ice cold and clear as a bell.
