Well water is water that comes from a hole in the ground i.e. a well! My,you are a city girl.! You won't actually see the well outside the home, but in many states there is water at a certain level and you just dig a well to provide yourself with free water. It varies greatly on taste, some well water is great and some taste like rotten eggs.
