Most tap water is fine, some puppies have trouble with minerals in tap water and this may cause eye tearing so people use distilled water with the minerals taken out. Of course, you should looks for distilled water that is safe for drinking, because some is not. I’m not in favor of taking minerals out of the diet long-term, so after most dogs have stopped teething they can go back to tap water. Most bottle water is just regular tap water that has been filtered and studies show that it isn’t as safe as once thought, some has very high levels of bacteria. Have you considered a filter for your tap water? Most filters take out chlorine, a substance that kills bacteria, but can leave water tasting a little funny, and some take out chloride as well, and other chemicals as well. If your tap water is safe for you, it’s safe for your dogs.
