  Oh this is so sad, I hope you were able to spoil her rotten the last 3 months of her life.  I'm confused though, why do you think she would have survived if she hadn't been treated for heartworms?  I thought they die for sure if not treated; it's just that treatment doesn't always work.  I can't believe people think that yorkies are outdoor dogs, they don't have fur, they have hair and hair doesn't protect against heat and cold like fur does.
