You would be surprised how some of them much smaller than yours can learn to climb over gates. Some don't. Some do. That is why wearing collars and harnesses when unsupervised is dangerous. They can climb and the collar or harness can become caught, which causes a choking/hanging hazard. Just FYI that we did have a YT member who did lose her tiny yorkie this way. She came home from an outing and they found her dead and hanging on the playpen. It was so sad!
