I've read that occasional tuna is okay, but not a regular item because of the mercury. You should never use the tuna packed in oil, way too much fat for a yorkie. The problem with giving pure protein, the dog won't be getting other nutrients it needs such as calcium, dog foods have a complete and balanced diet, and if you give them people food they will turn their noses up at the dog food. I wouldn’t give more than a tablespoon of protein whether it’s tuna, chicken or beef with the kibble.
