I know it doesn't help, but what you are feeling is perfectly normal. Time is the only thing that will heal. I managed to cope with the loss of our first dog (a lab, hit by a car at 11 months old) by getting another within a week. When I had to put our second dog to sleep at 8 years old (a German Shorthaired Pointer), I truly felt dead inside, but time helped to heal. That was 13 years ago and to this day I miss him, but think of him fondly and smile knowing he was my pride and joy. Yet, there is still room in my heart to love my little Rocco with everything I have. We all cope differently, and you will know what's best for you after some time passes. Again, I am heartbroken for you and will say a prayer for your heart to begin healing.
