I've heard that helps too, but haven't tried it yet. Tia has a cotton coat and matted terribly without the sweater so I had the groomer give her a puppy coat for the winter. Since we've moved up north, she will be wearing them all the time and she would not have any hair left if I kept it long. Ally, on the other hand, has a silky coat and tangles. She is an absolute DIVA when it comes to grooming, but is a bit more manageable when it comes to coming them out. I do trim her tight on her chest and arm pits. They are the first to matt/tangle. Isn't it weird how we need to trim them more in the winter when they need the hair to keep them warm! Let me know if you find the magic cure.
