We've had good luck introducing an adult yorkie into our house. As long as your older dogs are well socialized, it shouldn't be a problem as long as you are careful about the introduction. They should meet for the first time on neutral territory, so that your dogs don't feel they have to defend their home from an intruder. And as another poster pointed out, any good rescue or shelter will INSIST that you bring your current pets along to meet a potential new member of the pack so to confirm they will get along.
please, please please consider a rescue. There are so many homeless babies out there just waiting to love you.
