Default Does this sound like collapsed trachea?

Hey all!

I'm worried about Oliver. Ever since we got the lab puppy he hasn't quite been himself... and now I'm worried he may have a collapsed trachea or respiratory infection or Kennel cough?

I have called the vet and they know his symptoms and I have an appointment in a few days.

Symptom 1:
About a week ago he started coughing-almost like a human cough. When he worked himself into a coughing fit he would throw up. This only happened at night and he would throw up his food. Another issue: I started him on a new food around this same time so could it be the food? And allergy?

Symptom 2:
He has always been a fast eater. He scarfs it! Lately he has been A LOT slower to eat his new food.

Symptom 3: Every night for the past week he has woken me up with coughing fits. They start like a "coughing up a hairball" sound and progress to "goose honking" I try to pet him and scratch him to snap him out of the routine of coughing. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Symptom 4: Throughout the day, at different times but mostly after playing tug of war with the lab puppy he has another coughing fit until it sounds like he's coughed up a hairball (even though he hasn't) and then he's done. Also, when I'm sitting his him I can hear him swallow. Almost like a gulp.

I don't know if it's just an infection? Or something more serious and I'm worried.

I also read that some cases of collapsed trachea can be dealt with without surgery. Is that true?

Thanks guys. Send good thoughts to Ollie.
