I groom my Yorkie and am keeping him short for now. I have read that some Yorkie's hair grows faster than others. I think a good rule of thumb is every 6 weeks or so ---until you find out differently - depending on your dog's hair.

Since I do my own dog - I just trim him whenever I want to - I'm sure I trim him oftener than I would need to do if I were taking him to a groomer.

And - of course, the shorter he is trimmed - the longer the haircut will last.
