Taycie personally struggled with NB and she has food allergies. Her tearing was the worst and the skin around her eyes was incredibly red.
As far as food goes, I had Taycie on RX Royal Canin Rabbit and Potato for about 8 weeks. Results were wonderful and I was really thinking we had our answer. Then, her allergy symptoms started to creep in... And, her stomach was becoming tight and bloated after eating. Went to the vet, and they decided to switch her food to the Royal Canin Hypoallergenic and Science Diet Z/D wet. My vet thinks she has not only allergies to food but possibly food intolerance as well.
So far she is doing well and everything seems to be ok. Her symptoms subsided and her stomach is tolerating the best I ever seen. Knock on wood! I just want her to be comfortable that is the most important. When you have a dog with food intolerance's, allergies etc. RX foods are wonderful for it, because I don't know where Taycie would be without it. At this point she is past anything I could ever buy for her online or at Petco, and I am not educated enough to even mess with it.
I think the biggest thing to remember with allergies is even the smallest trace amounts of something in food could potentially set their allergies off, this is why quality control in dog food companies is so important. What are NB QC standards???
Also, for Taycie because her stomach is so incredibly sensitive, I don't give treats anymore, it is not worth the reaction. I have baked the canned food, but I just use her kibble as treats.
