I always ask is this something new ? Did this happen over time and progress to the point when you decided something had to be done ?
I think a Vet check is important. Just a short example. Mrs X called me and said her little Becky was peeing out of spite. After a few questions I told her I thought she should have Becky checked by the Vet. Two days later she called to say little Becky had bladder infection. So it wasn't because she went away for the week end after all.
