Hi Lindsey,
How kind of you to consider rescuing seniors. If they are not housebroken at all, then I think it would be almost impossible for you to housebreak them when you are not at home with them all of the time. Does the rescue not have anyone in mind to rehome them with that stays home all day? Otherwise, I think they sound like wonderful little dogs.
