Poor little guy!
Two of mine hate the vacuum as well but they dont hide they go into attack mode. One just barks and the other because of the excitement of the other barking tries to attack him. I have been working with them these past few months to condition them to the sound and sight of the vacume so that they are not scared and attach the other.
We have made very good process ! Maybe you should try doing the same with your little one.
