If you see this symbol on pet food or treats I would think twice about feeding it to my pets. It looks like a harmless, cute little flower.
This means the food was irradiated, treated with radiation to kill bacteria and prolong shelf life. Some pets have been sickened and killed eating this food. Australia had a big episode with Orijen cat food that was irradiated. The FDA and other government agencys wholeheartedly endorse this practice claiming it to be safe but studies are saying something else. ….I wonder how hard the FDA will look at the radiation as a possible factor in these products since they are the ones who gave the ok to use it………..This process applies to food from China and in the USA….Another clue as to whether a food is irradiated is they don’t always have an expiration date……
