HUMM.... Abba was pee-pad trained and at 6 months he decided to go outside instead. And for about a week he had mistakes in the house too. Then he totaly wanted to do his business outside, all the time. I put him in his x-pen when I had to be gone with pee-pad as usual. He held it until I got home from the dentist and grocery shopping, about 5 hours. He was frantic to get outside, when I got home. I let him out and watched him run the fence line. Squirt, squirt, squirt, then poop by the gate. He was marking his territory. Maybe he was telling the world, a big boy lives here, keep out ! He has not used his pee pad in 2 months. (My adult Yorkies Rubin and Gracie are outside trained and do not use pee- pads. Ginny Joy (7 months old) only uses her pee-pad if she is in the x-pen, she too seems to prefer to potty outside too.
