Anesthesia is really not a huge deal, so long as they are doing right. Jackson is 3 and just got his first dental -- once they got in there, they discovered a bad tooth that had infection, so they pulled that. They fixed up his over-bite problem he had with his canine tooth. They cleaned all the teeth. Now they look amazing and he feels SO much better, I can tell in his personality.

They use isoflourane to put him under and we did pre-op bloodwork to make sure he was safe to go under. Just find a vet you trust, one that will explain everything to you. If the vet recommended a dental, then I would go with that recommendation. Then you can keep up with the teeth here on out. Brushing daily is soooo important, as I've learned. I've been training Jackson to "enjoy" it. I also purchased CET toothpaste, CET chews, and HealthyMouth.

Other recommended products are OraVet and Petzlife.

Sounds like a dental is needed.
