I travel across state at least one a month to see either one or both of my kids that are away at college. I have a mustang with split folding back seats. One seat is up and ZoE's car seat is there & she's strapped in for the trip. I fold down the other seat and put her crate so that it is mostly in the trunk area with the crate door opening over the folded down seat. At most stops I just pop her in her Kwigy Bo bag and take her in with me, but I have also popped her in her crate (so that she wasn't so visible at the window) and ran in. It depends on how close I am to the doors and the weather/time of year.
